SEO for Arabic websites: the fundamentals you can't skip
SEO isn't keywords stuffed into a page. It's a site that Google and AI assistants can understand, answering the visitor's question better than anyone else.
Many Arabic websites look great but are invisible in search. The cause is usually technical before it is about content: pages that aren't indexed, two languages on one URL, or a slow mobile site.
1. The technical foundation
- Register the site in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap
- A robots.txt that doesn't block important pages
- A canonical URL for every page
- Separate Arabic and English URLs with hreflang
- Good mobile speed per Core Web Vitals
2. Titles and descriptions
Each page needs a unique title naming its topic and your brand, and a meta description explaining in two sentences why a searcher should click. The same title on every page is one of the most common mistakes.
3. Arabic search is different
People spell the same term several ways (e.g. with or without hamza, singular or plural). Use the natural variants in text and headings without stuffing, and write in your audience's language.
4. Content that answers a real question
Start from your customers' actual questions — what do they ask you by phone or WhatsApp? Each recurring question can become an article or a section on a service page, answered directly in the first paragraph.
5. Structured data
Schema.org markup (Organization, Service, Article, BreadcrumbList) helps search engines understand who you are and what you offer, and improves the chance of richer results.
6. Showing up in AI answers (AIO)
Assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini lean on clearly structured pages: subheadings, short answers, lists and trustworthy information about the company and author — the same things human visitors need.
7. Links and reputation
Links from real, relevant sites (partners, business directories, local press) build trust. Avoid buying links; it can hurt your site.
When to get help
If your site doesn't appear even for your company name, or traffic dropped suddenly, the cause is usually technical. At WebShield we review indexing, speed and structured data and deliver a clear fix plan.
